CCTV systems are very popular in today’s security scene and are becoming a common sight in and around homes and businesses.
Although no deterrent is perfect, CCTV can put some opportunistic burglars off because they don’t want to risk being identified or forced to disguise their appearance and draw attention to their behaviour. When a break-in does occur, CCTV can provide the crucial evidence that secures conviction and sometimes enables stolen property to be recovered. CCTV is also used to help ward off antisocial behaviour and to provide video evidence of criminal damage and physical abuse.
Our CCTV systems incorporate quality products enabling you and your family or work colleagues to remotely check images via PC, tablet or smartphone. For additional security, an externally monitored CCTV system will help to ensure that a break-in or fire is spotted immediately and the emergency services summoned, regardless of where you are at the time.
Despite these benefits, CCTV systems are not always appropriate in every case. For example, they can be expensive when compared with burglar alarm systems which may be more cost-effective in low risk areas. At Cotterill Security Systems Ltd, we will never try to sell you an expensive CCTV system when there are more cost-effective security options available to you.
But in other cases, for example when a property is isolated and contains valuable stock/ property etc, a CCTV system may be recommended. CCTV systems may be subject to the Data Protection Act. See www.gov.uk/government/publications/surveillance-camera-code-of-practice
